RENEWALS

A renewal is a good time for a conversation.

Before you sign your renewal, let’s check whether your mortgage still fits your life and the plans you have now.

Review more than the new rate

Consider payment changes, remaining amortization, prepayment privileges and whether you expect to move, renovate or change your borrowing.

Compare staying and switching

Ask about legal, discharge, appraisal and transfer costs. Some offers cover certain costs, but restrictions and eligibility apply.

Qualification can differ

OSFI does not expect the minimum qualifying rate for an uninsured straight switch at renewal between federally regulated lenders when the loan amount and amortization do not increase. Lender underwriting still applies; other transactions may require a stress test.

Tell me a little about what you have in mind. We’ll take it from there.
